Not far from where I call home is a great town called Winter Park. I have fond memories of skiing and visiting Winter Park the past 15 years. I have been visiting Winter Park since my early days of driving the family jumbo van with my learner’s permit up Berthoud Pass. That was scary!
I recently visited again for the umpteenth time; however, this time it was for a summer trip and I was happy to discover all of the summertime activities. Normally it’s a winter destination for me because of how great the skiing can be. Known for its excellent mogul skiing, Winter Park is quickly becoming a hotspot for both winter and summer. This year they hosted the second annual Winter Park Brewfest. The event featured some of the best breweries not only in Colorado, but from around the country! Got kids? That’s okay! There are numerous family activities throughout the area in both summer and winter. Some of these include the kids’ area at the base of the mountain, horseback riding or maybe a rafting trip. The possibilities are endless if you wish to play in the outdoors!
The actual town of Winter Park is home to some amazing restaurants and nightlife. There are dozens of excellent restaurants to choose from but I have a few personal favorites. One of my favorites for lunch or dinner is Deno’s, where you will find everything from a great burger to a juicy steak, pizza or pasta. While we are on the subject of food, The Mountain Rose Café must be mentioned for an excellent breakfast choice. You will wait as it is a small restaurant, but it is worth every minute! I think the quest to find the perfect biscuits and gravy has ended for me now!
Overall, Winter Park is an excellent choice for a resort both in the summer and in the winter. If you want to get away from the crowds and get a better bargain, Winter Park is an excellent choice!
