A Girl’s Gotta Eat….. Foodie Guide to Whitefish, MT

Whitefish, Montana, is the stop on the way to Glacier National Park or Big Mountain. Fresh huckleberries, huckleberry pancakes, and huckleberry gummies await you if you are fortunate enough to visit during the August huckleberry season. The berry filled scones at Montana Coffee Traders practically explode with freshness.

Power up for your day’s hike at Swift Creek Café. Their veggie scrambles brought me back twice in four days. If you’re in the mood for less traditional breakfast fare, Amazing Crepes serves a crepe filled with wild soked salmon, Thai green curry sauce, and spinach that will wake your taste buds with delight.

Slept in? Start your day dining lakeside at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake. Again, I was a repeat customer. Their breakfast buffet was a bargain at $11.95, but I’d make any excuse to sit outside on the patio with a vista of the lake and snowcapped mountains in the background.

For a romantic evening, the cozy Kandahar Lodge on Big Mountain boasts a four star restaurant with an extensive wine list. Even though we arrived too late for dinner, they graciously served us wine and dessert, ginger pear cobbler, by the fire in the lodge.

You visit Montana to enjoy the great outdoors, and now you can add “great food” to the list too!

About

I've traveled extensively and understand the importance of details and planning. I want to make your vacation planning as worry free as the vacation itself. I have lived a life filled with adventure; I’ve done everything from swimming with sharks to eating with cannibals, and raised four teenagers in between. From white sand to white powder, I love it all and can't wait to find the ideal vacation for you.

It’s a good thing all that great food is surrounded by vistas you just have to get out and hike or I’d be buying elastic waist pants for the flight back. Have you been there?
