After a great day on the slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, heading to the authentic Cowboy town of Jackson, WY is a good strategy for some great dining and fun nightlife. Jackson is about a 15 minute drive from the resort, and is easy to navigate on foot once you arrive. Find a parking spot as near to the center square as you can, and explore the town from the wooden sidewalks - raised to allow you to keep your feet dry – just like the Old West.
There are a several terrific dining options in town, just walk in any direction and you’ll find multiple choices. Here are a few we enjoyed on our last visit.
Right next door is one of Jackson Hole’s top Mexican restaurants, but you wouldn’t know so by the name – The Merry Piglets! Great authentic Mexican cuisine.
Directly in the main square is the famous landmark – The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and right below it is the Million Dollar Cowboy Steak House - a fun place to have a drink and a steak while sitting on cowboy saddles!
Around the corner from the Cowboy bar is the Silver Dollar Bar & Grill, which is part of the famous Wort Hotel. Check out the pictures on the wall to see how this same bar was a classic Western watering hole complete with gambling tables, dancing and of course – whiskey.
Right across the street is the Mountain High Pizza Pie shop for easy pizza take out.
Another block down the street we found our favorite choice for the trip – Trio. A wonderful restaurant with a modern flair and menu that is popular enough that you’ll want to call ahead to get reservations. Everything we tried was great, but the Grand Prize winner was the Blue Cheese Fondue Truffle Fries – absolutely delicious!!
