Breckenridge
Another great stay in Breck at Sawmill Creek Condos, which are located right at the bottom of Four O’Clock Run and across the street from the Riverwalk Center. I definitely recommend these condos to anyone looking for the perfect mix of town and mountain. When people talk about Breck it’s always about how great the mountain is with its endless amount of terrain and all of the great hikes and secret stashes. However, every May the resort takes a nice breather and you get to experience a much mellower version of the town and get more local charm and flavor. Most of the restaurants do 2 for 1 specials so I’m able to get a lot more bang for my buck and am able to enjoy some of the more upscale places that I wouldn’t normally consider given my fine tastes but tight pockets. The Hearthstone, which was purported to be a brothel back in the mining days, has always been one of my favorite spots and again it didn’t disappoint. I also have to always hit up my favorite breakfast spot, The Columbine Café. In fact I hit it up twice. After a long season of concentrating on snowboarding it’s just nice to take a step back and appreciate the Summit County off season and go at my own pace and work on my belly. My next stay will be in the Summer and I’m looking forward to everything the town has planned with music, events, and festivals but for now it was the perfect way to wrap up another season and put it in the books.
